The lead singer jumped in, singing harmony as the two of them began to strum their guitars to the slow funk beat. The crowd began to sing along to the catchy pop tune as Eli became comfortable, swaying back and forth as he sang.

All-too-soon, the song ended and the crowd began to cheer. The lead singer leaned into the mic, thanking Eli before announcing that they would be back after a quick break. Eli took the opportunity to hop off the stage and into his elven princess’ arms, kissing her deeply.

“You totally planned that.” Aria said, standing in a back room with the band and Eli.

“I did not .” Eli responded. “If I’d planned it, I would have practiced a hell of a lot more.”

The two of them laughed as the lead singer approached. “Are you even going to introduce me douchebag?” He asked jokingly.

“Fuck. Sorry dude. Leo, this is Aria. Aria, this is Leo – we used to be in a band together, obviously. The drummer back there is Max, and the lady on the keyboard is Melissa.”

Leo held out his hand and shook Aria’s. “Finally.” He said. “The last girl he was with was such a goddamn bitch. She made him quit the band.”

Eli scratched the back of his head, looking for a way to change the topic. Aria was clearly interested though, and wanted to know more. “Why did she make him quit?” She asked.

“Well, for one she wanted him to get that stupid consulting job where he could never practice with us because he was always travelling. But I think she was secretly threatened by the fact that women were always hitting on him at our shows.” He responded.

“He is pretty sexy.” She said, looking at him and grinning at how embarrassed he was getting. Turning back to Leo, she asked. “But that must mean more for you, right?”

“Not really.” Aria tilted her head at Leo’s statement, confused.

Max held up his left hand, showing off the gold band. “I’m happily married!” He beamed from the back.

Melissa grinned. “I’m not really into girls.”

Leo laughed. “Me neither.”

Aria’s brow furrowed as she did the math. “Ah!” She said. “I get it now. I bet you get all the sexy gay boys then!”

The rest of them began to crack up at her statement. Suddenly, the door to the back room opened, and someone announced that the band was due back on the stage. Max and Melissa stood, hugging Eli in turns before walking back through the door. Leo leaned in, hugging Aria before embracing Eli.

“You seem like you’re in a better place.” He said.

“Yeah.” Eli responded, glancing back at Aria. “I really am.”

“Anytime you want to come play with us, you let me know. We’d be happy to do a couple shows with you!” Then, looking back at Aria he spoke to her. “Assuming you’re okay with that?”

Aria bounced with excitement. “Of course! We’d love that. Maybe we could even find a nice girl to take home with the two of us – since he is the straight sex appeal of the band.
